What is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common disorder of the endocrine system among women who are of the age of reproduction.

What are common signs & symptoms of PCOS?

- Irregular menstrual cycles

- Obesity

- Infertility

- Hirsutism (a condition which causes excessive hair growth on chest, face, abdominal area or thighs)

- Oily skin

- Acne which is severe & unresponsive to typical treatments

- Multiple cysts on ovaries

What is the cause of PCOS?

The exact cause of PCOS is unknown, but it seems that it may be related to a variety of factors working together. These factors include a resistance to insulin, an increase in the androgen hormone levels, and irregular menstrual cycles.
